CONCEPT ~ Alchemy as a Metaphor for the artmaking process
Your mission for semester 3 ~ engage in your own process of alchemy to refine and define your PERSONAL AESTHETIC and create a Body of Work
What is a personal aesthetic :
DEFINITION FROM NEW VISUAL ART SYLLABUS:
• Personal aesthetic is where the artist develops a particular style or expression that is individual and inventive.
Students take ownership of their own approaches and style even if these approaches or styles have been appropriated from or have seeds in other artists’ work.
• In a body of work, a personal aesthetic should be determined by looking across many responses by the student involving process and resolution.
• It is about students taking ownership of their own approaches and style even if these approaches or styles have been appropriated from or have seeds in other artists’ work.
• Aesthetic meaning: relates to how the artist communicates what they are saying through the imaginative manipulation of art and design elements, media and techniques.
A personal aesthetic is not something you set out to 'get' but something you 'get' after you set out
